Anyone else bumping greens HOC from 0.110 to 0.125 as temps climb? We’re holding 18–22% VMC with the TDR and getting 10–10.5 ft on the Stimp by skipping a mow and double-rolling, but I’m seeing late-day leaf scorch and a flatter look at the collars. Thinking light sand at 0.6 cu ft/1,000 and Primo at 0.125 fl oz/M to preserve turf quality; what’s working for you this week?
I’d raise collar HOC about 0.010 and move the double-roll to mornings only, then syringe 60–90 sec when the TDR dips under 20% to hold 10 ft without the late-day crispies. If you go with the “0.6 cu ft/1,000” dust, I’d trim to about 0.4 and vent with 1/4" solids first — sunscreen for collars; have you vented this week?
For “10–10.5 ft”, split Primo to 0.0625 fl oz/M 2x weekly. Seeing less collar scorch here — worth a try?
Quick tweak that helped us: micro-vent with 3/8-in solids every other week and switch the 0.6 to 0.3–0.4 cu ft/1,000 twice weekly late afternoon — kept 10–10.3 with fewer crispy collars; @juliaC_84’s split Primo pairs well — are your collars more Poa than middles?
Same here at 18–22% on the TDR — when I “skip a mow + double‑roll” I get that collar pancake too. Dropping the cleanup pass 3 days a week and widening the no‑turn zone to about 24 in, then a single light cross‑roll kept 10–10.2 at 0.125 with way less scorch. You running walk mowers or a triplex on cleanups?
And i’d swap to smooth rollers on double-roll days and add a green pigment at about 3–4 oz/A — sunscreen for the leaf that cut our late-day singe without losing pace. If you’re set on 0.125 Primo, back the groomer/brush off whenever VMC dips under about 20% and see if collars rebound. @natalieW_88 is right on reducing mechanical stress — are you on grooved drums now?
